Windows Server 2016 arrives in September

Microsoft has announced the release date for Windows Server 2016. According to Microsoft, the final version of Windows Server 2016 will be available at the Ignite conference. Ignite will take place from 26.09.2016 to 30.09.2016 in Atlanta.

Windows Server 2016

Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016 will also be released to coincide with Microsoft's biggest in-house exhibition.

A good overview of the new features can be found here:

Although this is an article on the Technical Preview 5, not much more will be done until the final version and mainly bugs will be fixed.

I am particularly interested in the Nano Server and the new storage features. Some interesting improvements have been added here.

For some small tasks I currently like to use a small Linux installation, simply because the hardware / resource requirements are low. I think I can easily replace these small VMs with Nano Servers, which can probably be better integrated into my world.

Something has also changed with Active Directory, Server 2003 function level and FRS are no longer supported. PAM could also be very interesting here:

As soon as the final version is available, I will report back here.
