Exchange 2013 CU1 announced for April 2, 2013

I am curious whether the date will be kept. The CU1 for Exchange 2013 has been announced for 02.04.2013. CU1 enables Exchange 2007/2010 servers to coexist with Exchange 2013. CU1 will then also support the migration from Exchange 2007/2010 to Exchange 2013. http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/03/25/exchange-2013-rtm-cu1-status.aspx Time to prepare the test environments

Reverse proxy for Outlook Anywhere via Sophos UTM Web Application Firewall

I have already reported on the Sophos UTM Firewall, which is even free for private use. Unfortunately, there was the restriction that the Web Application Firewall previously did not provide Outlook Anywhere support. But now that Forefront TMG has been discontinued, other manufacturers seem to be jumping on the bandwagon and adding Outlook Anywhere support to their products. Read more

Exchange web services are becoming increasingly important!

Exchange Web Services (EWS) are becoming increasingly important. With the EWS, applications are able to access many of the Exchange functions. The EWS interface has been implemented since Exchange 2007. I know many applications that still access Exchange via MAPI, all these applications will no longer be Exchange 2013 compatible, as the protocol will only be ... Read more

Mail-enabled public folders are not displayed in the address list after migration

Some time ago I already described a problem with the value "MailNickname", which leads to the address lists not being updated. The same problem can occur with e-mail activated public folders. The background is that in Exchange 2003 times the mail nickname (alias) was still allowed to contain special characters such as spaces etc.. With Exchange 2010 ... Read more

Internal certification body: Issue certificates with a validity of more than 2 years

Anyone who has followed my howtos (Server 2008R2-Exchange 2010 and Server 2012-Exchange 2013) for an internal certification authority and SAN certificates may also want to issue certificates with a validity of more than 2 years. A validity of more than 2 years can already be specified in the certificate template. However, the certificates are still only valid for ... Read more

Optimization Kemp Loadbalancer for Exchange 2013 DAG

In this series of articles, I set up a highly available test environment with Kemp load balancers. As it was a test environment, I was more interested in the function than the optimum. However, there are a few things that can be tweaked to optimize the environment. Here are the most important ones: Switch on stateful failover and reduce HA timeouts: ... Read more

Exchange 2013: Test system with Database Availbility Group (DAG) and Kemp load balancers

I have created a test environment with Kemp load balancers and an Exchange 2013 DAG, as the posts are a bit longer, I have split them up. To make it easier to find them again, here is a table of contents with the corresponding links: Part 1: Description of the test environment and Exchange 2013 installation Part 2: Configuration of the Kemp load balancers for HA (High ... Exchange 2013: Test system with Database Availability Group (DAG) and Kemp load balancers (Part 5)

In the last part of this series of articles, we test the configured HA environment. The environment has not yet been optimized, but the results are quite impressive. Here you can see that Outlook 2013 no longer connects to the Exchange Server FQDN, but to a value consisting of "Mailbox GUID + @ + UPN Suffix" In the ... Read more
