Exchange Health Checker: Duplicate entry – IANA: Asia/Bishkek

In the Exchange security update from November 2024 there is a bug that causes problems with certain calendar functions and I Exchange Health Checker generates the following error:

Duplicate entry - IANA: Asia/Bishkek Win: Central Asia Standard Time More information: https://aka.ms/ExchangeIanaTimeZoneIssue

Microsoft writes the following:

Problems occur when Exchange Server processes calendar-related information and files such as .ical or .ics attachments You cannot preview the files or add them to the calendar. The issue occurs when you use the Outlook on the Web (OWA) email client and Exchange Active Sync (EAS) on a mobile device. In addition, the problem can affect Exchange Transport when processing emails with .ical or .ics files as attachments.

Das Problem ist hier ein doppelter Eintrag in der Datei „IanaTimeZoneMappings.xml“ im Verzeichnis „<ExchangeInstallPath>\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Bin“:

The following entry appears twice in the file, which causes the problems described:

<Map IANA="Asia/Bishkek" Win="Central Asia Standard Time" />

The easiest way to solve the problem is to use the script provided by Microsoft. The script can be found here:

The script can be executed in an administrative Exchange Management Shell.

A little hint: The MX Exchange Transport and W3WC services are restarted automatically.
