The security updates that caused problems with transport rules were released again today. The new updates have the suffix "v2" and are intended to fix the problems.
Microsoft writes the following:
The original release of these SUs (published on 12.11.2024) led to a problem in some environments where Exchange Server transport rules stopped working after a certain time. The newly released SUs resolve this issue.
To help you better understand the next steps, we use the following naming convention in this post to differentiate between the original November 2024 SU and the re-release:
- Nov 2024 SUv1: original November 2024 SU (published on 12.11.2024 with article KB5044062)
- Nov 2024 SUv2: newly published November-2024-SU (published on 27.11.2024 with article KB5049233)

If the original version of the update is already installed, the V2 update must now be installed to resolve the problems. Even if the original update did not cause any problems, the new V2 version must be installed. The download can be found here:
Here is an article about the new features that are included in the update:
However, the update does not appear in the update history. Only if you go via Add/remove programs.
I am currently getting the following error message when trying to install "KB5049233", which did not occur with "KB5044062".
Any ideas what I can do?
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program that you are trying to upgrade might be missing, or because the upgrade patch would upgrade a different version of the program. Make sure that the program you want to upgrade is installed on the computer and that you are installing the correct upgrade patch."
Is Exchange 2019 and have downloaded the Exchange 2019 patch, is also not the 2016 by mistake. Always the same error.
Can someone tell me if the V2 update needs a restart if V1 was installed before?
I have not yet tested it with this update, but I always expect a restart with Exchange updates. I have not yet had an update that did not require this.
Yes, it is necessary.
And don't forget to use the workaround afterwards to fix Microsoft's inability:

Thank you :)
And make sure that, contrary to the German translation in the KB, it is not

Note the missing s in Bishkek ;)
Yes, a reboot is necessary.
Apparently there are problems again:

Worked without any problems. 2 x Exchange 2019 DAG, on Windows Server 2022 Core Server. v1 was not installed.
Installed on our 5 Exchange servers. Since I did not experience any problems with v1 either, because I do not use the transport rules, I can only say that the installation went quickly and without any problems. In my case, I simply installed it.

Volunteers before.....
So what doesn't work again?
So far everything is working, even the transport rules
