Exchange Server: New updates available (December 2020)

The latest CUs for Exchange Server for 2020 were released by Microsoft today. They fix the problem that no attachments can be downloaded from other mailboxes via OWA and that Outlook only displayed a maximum of 175 results in cached mode. This limit has now been raised to 1000 results. The previous security updates are also included in the CUs. Click here to download the updates:

Further information on the updates can be found on the Exchange Team Blog:

The Exchange 2016 CU 19 can be downloaded directly. As usual, the Exchange 2019 CU 8 is only available via VLSC, Action Pack or VisualStudio subscription. The CUs should be tested on productive Exchange servers before installation, some users have reported problems with the CUs installed on the 08.12.20 publish security updates. These security updates are also included in the CUs that have now been released. The CUs should therefore perhaps be tested a little more thoroughly to avoid problems in production. If the security updates have not already been installed: The vulnerabilities are considered critical, so either install the fixes quickly and wait with the CU, or install the CU quickly now.

It is also important to note that the last CU for Exchange Server 2016 will be released in March 2021, after CU20 for Exchange 2016 there will only be security updates, but no more CU with feature updates. The extended support for Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019 will then end on October 14, 2025.

Update 04.01.21: There are increasing reports that there are problems with the PDF preview in OWA with this update. If this function is important to you, you should exercise a little caution here and only install the security updates from 08.12.20 if necessary.
