Microsoft now also distributes Windows updates as an update rollup

Since this month, Microsoft has also been distributing Windows updates as an update rollup, similar to Exchange Server.

Update Rollup

Several updates are combined in update rollups. On the one hand, this has the advantage that not countless individual updates have to be installed, but significantly fewer. The disadvantage, however, is that certain updates can no longer be deselected or uninstalled individually. It remains to be seen to what extent this can lead to problems.

This article provides background information on the changed update strategy:

Some updates were not allowed to be installed on Exchange servers in particular. For example, there have been problems with .NET 4.6.1 on Exchange servers in the past. For this reason, I find it a bit of a hindrance if it is no longer directly recognizable which updates are included in the update rollup. Only time will tell whether this will lead to more problems.

  1. Guten Morgen,
haben Sie vielleicht eine Info darüber, wie die Verwaltung dann zukünftig mit dem WSUS funktioniert?
Habe ich mit diesem noch weiterhin die Möglichkeit die einzelnen Updates zu verteilen?

    LG, Frank
