Microsoft hat neue Updates für Exchange Server 2016 und 2019 veröffentlicht. Ursprünglich sollte Exchange 2016 nur noch Sicherheitsupdates und keine neues Features mehr per CU erhalten. Jedoch wurde jetzt für Exchange 2016 das CU 22 veröffentlicht. Für Exchange 2019 wurde das CU 11 freigegeben. Beide CUs enthalten das neue Feature „Exchange Emergency Mitigation“, hier bekommt also auch Exchange 2016 noch einmal ein neues (sehr interessantes) neues Feature spendiert.

Das CU11 für Exchange 2019 lässt sich auch wieder direkt runterladen. Früher waren die Exchange 2019 CUs nur mit einem VLSC, Action Pack oder Visual Studio Abo verfügbar. Diese Hürde für den Download von Updates dürfte in der Vergangenheit dafür gesorgt haben, dass viele Exchange 2019 Organisationen nicht schnell auf das aktuelle CU updaten könnten, einfach weil der entsprechende Download fehlte. Der Exchange Admin hat ja nicht unbedingt zugriff auf das VLSC Portal…
Note: The new CU requires the IIS URL Rewrite Module. The module must be installed before installing the CU. On Windows Server 2012 R2, the Universal C Runtime provided.

I briefly mentioned at the beginning that there is a new feature for Exchange 2016 and 2019: Exchange Emergency Mitigation (EM). With EM, Microsoft provides a very useful feature for on-prem Exchange installations to prevent the exploitation of security vulnerabilities on Exchange servers until corresponding updates have been installed.
