Outlook 2010: Deactivate Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTPS) via GPO

Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTPS) can only be switched on or off on the Exchange servers. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to configure which users are allowed to use Outlook Anywhere. Although access to Active Directory groups can be restricted using Forefront TMG, every client is configured for Outlook Anywhere using Autodiscover. However, this has ... Read more

Subordinate certification authority for Sophos UTM HTTPS CA (Web Filter)

My small Sophos UTM filters HTTP traffic (Web Filter) and scans it for viruses and malware, which works quite reliably, unless the websites are encrypted (HTTPS). By default, the UTM cannot scan encrypted traffic and therefore cannot filter out viruses/malware. However, this can be easily changed. In the ... Read more

Windows Server 2012 R2: First impressions

I've just started installing the new Windows Server 2012 and playing around with it a bit. Here are my first impressions: The installation is the same as with Windows Server 2012, which was to be expected. After the installation, the server boots directly to the desktop and does not start the Server Manager immediately, which I find ... Read more

Email made in Germany... with Exchange!

Everyone is talking about it at the moment: the secret services are reading. Telekom, GMX and Web.de are taking advantage of the current discussions on the subject and have recently started offering "E-Mail made in Germany". Exchange 2007/2010/2013: New updates

New security updates for Exchange 2007, 2010 and 2013 were released yesterday. However, the update for Exchange 2013 was withdrawn today due to problems. Unfortunately, this seems to be happening more frequently recently. If you have already installed the update for Exchange 2013, you can find a workaround to fix the problems here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2879739

I'll probably wait a little longer until I install the updates...

If you can't or don't want to wait, you can find the packages here:

Exchange 2010: Find unused distribution lists

Many distribution lists quickly become confusing, but cleaning up distribution lists can be difficult if you don't know how often they are used. I have created a small script that counts how many mails have been sent to a list in the last few days. The time period is customizable. However, it must be ensured that the message tracking logs are also ... Read more
