Windows 10 Creators Update for Windows Server 2016?

Foreword

This article is not meant to be completely serious. However, in my opinion there are a few inconsistencies with the Windows Update.

Creators Update for Windows Server 2016?

Nils already published it on Twitter on March 15, Windows Update also offers the Creators Update on a Windows 2016 Server:

I thought it was funny, so I tried out what happens when I want to perform the update. The update was also presented to me today as "good news":

So I clicked on the "Yes, what do I have to do?" link:

So I have to activate JavaScript first. No sooner said than done, I WANT the update, NOW! After activating JavaScript, I only see the message that Windows Enterprise Editions are not supported. Doesn't matter, I'm using Windows Server 2016 Datacenter Edition:

Of course I don't want to wait, I want Creators Update on my server, so I continue to the "software download page". After downloading and starting the Windows 10 Software Update Wizard, I paused for a moment:

Just in case, I created a snapshot of my server and then clicked on "Update now".

Too bad, the system admin is not available at the moment (he buys new PCs online), so the update won't happen today.

To get a little more serious again

There are other inconsistencies with Windows Update on Windows Server 2016, for example, the usage time can be set:

I think the usage time is a good idea for clients, but for servers?

So I can only use the server for 12 hours a day?

I must honestly admit that I have not yet tried what happens when automatic updates are also activated. I just let the updates download and then carry out the installation manually:

However, this also means that signature updates for Windows Defender have to be installed manually. The server reports every day with pending updates for the Windows Defender signatures. So I have to install signature updates manually every day...

The bottom line

Yes, this article is not meant to be completely serious. Nevertheless, in my opinion it would be better to differentiate between client and server.

For example, what is this service doing on a Windows 2016 server?

Why is the Creators Update offered on a server? Am I just too old-fashioned in my point of view or have I not understood the principle?
